This study aims to optimize the fermentation process in the production of biogas using cow and horse manure as renewable energy sources. In Probolinggo, particularly in Kandang Jati Kulon, Kraksaan, cow and horse manure are not fully utilized, making them ideal for biogas production. Biogas is a mixture of gases, primarily methane and carbon dioxide, that can be used as a fuel for combustion and power generation. The fermentation process of cow and horse manure involves mixing, fermentation, and combustion stages. This research tested three variations of manure mixture: 4.5 kg cow manure and 1.5 kg horse manure, 3 kg cow manure and 3 kg horse manure, and 1.5 kg cow manure and 4.5 kg horse manure. The results showed that the highest flame height occurred with the 4.5 kg cow manure and 1.5 kg horse manure mixture (83.5 mm), while the lowest flame height was observed with the 1.5 kg cow manure and 4.5 kg horse manure mixture (71.0 mm). These results demonstrate the potential of using manure mixtures for biogas production, contributing to renewable energy efforts and environmental sustainability.
