Effect of Bio-Solar-Dexlite Fuel Mixture on Injector Spray Characteristics

Abstract

Fuel atomization plays a crucial role in combustion quality and engine performance in diesel engines. Proper atomization helps manage exhaust gas concentration, ensuring complete combustion. This study explores the effects of injection pressure variations (190 bar, 195 bar, and 200 bar) on the fuel atomization characteristics of bio-solar and Dexlite mixtures. The results showed that the bio-solar fuel produced an average spray angle of 12.33˚ at 190 bar, 12.03˚ at 195 bar, and 12.87˚ at 200 bar. The Dexlite fuel demonstrated spray angles of 8.99˚ at 190 bar, 10.06˚ at 195 bar, and 11.54˚ at 200 bar. The bio-solar-Dexlite mixture produced intermediate results, with spray angles decreasing at higher injection pressures. Dexlite demonstrated the most favorable spray angle, closely matching the optimal range of 20˚–30˚. These findings emphasize the importance of fuel selection in optimizing injection spray characteristics for improved engine efficiency.
