The national demand for electricity is predicted to rise annually due to economic growth, significantly driven by both the industrial sector and households. The government has launched the 35,000 MW project since 2014 to address the increasing energy consumption, with 48% of this energy generated by coal-fired Power Plants (PLTU). To maintain a stable electricity supply, efficient operation and maintenance are crucial, where coal consumption is a key indicator. This study evaluates the specific coal consumption of PLTU Paiton Unit 6 under varying load conditions using a mix of Berau Coal and Kideco Jaya Agung. The results show that specific coal consumption is highest at a net load of 450 MW, decreasing to the lowest at a net load of 610 MW. The study also reveals that the coal mixture ratio of 2 Berau : 3 Kideco offers the highest efficiency of 32.2% at a gross load of 638 MW. This finding suggests that a higher proportion of higher-calorie coal leads to a more efficient power generation process.
