Abstract

Vocational education faces structural challenges in the form of high open unemployment rates caused by competency mismatch and graduates’ passive orientation as job seekers. This community service program aimed to reconstruct vocational students’ defensive mindset into a more proactive entrepreneurial mindset through the “SMK-Preneur Bootcamp: 1 Day to Be a Boss!” program. The participants consisted of 30 students from various vocational majors at SMK Negeri 3 Makassar. The program employed an integrated approach combining business simulation-based training using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) with advocacy activities focused on determining technical skill pricing (self-worth) and commercial visualization techniques through smartphone photography. Quantitative evaluation was conducted using cognitive instruments in the form of pre-tests and post-tests consisting of 19 items to measure students’ understanding of entrepreneurial mindset, business modeling, and digital marketing. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ cognitive capacity and entrepreneurial readiness, as indicated by the increase in average scores from 36.84% in the pre-test to 88.95% in the post-test. The average normalized gain (N-gain) score of 0.83 was categorized as highly effective and supported by paired t-test results (t = 14.52; p < 0.001).
