ABSTRACT
Food safety is crucial for both traditional and modern (industrial) food processing. Safety standards are met in processed food production to ensure that the food products consumed are suitable, safe, and beneficial for the body. Food safety can be applied from upstream to downstream, from processing to production, until the product is ready for consumption. Corn is a local food product, a staple of Kersikan Gondang Wetan Pasuruan village. Members of the Women Farmers Group process corn into various products. To ensure the safety of processed corn products, food safety practices are essential in the production process. The objective of this activity is to empower the Permata Women Farmers Group (WFG) to implement food safety practices in the corn production process in Kersikan village, Gondang Wetan Pasuruan. The Community Service activities carried out in Kersikan village have several stages, namely FGD (Focus Group Discussion), training on the application of food safety in the corn processing production process, mentoring and evaluation. The results of the activity included a 95% increase in cadre understanding of food safety processes, an 80% increase in understanding of product processing for tortilla chips, a 70% increase in dodol, and a 60% increase in corn silk tea. Cadre understanding of packaging processes increased by 90%. Furthermore, skills in implementing simple food safety SOP increased by 85%. The conclusion of the activity is an increase in the knowledge and skills of the women farmer group in the application of food safety in the corn processing production process, as well as the ability of cadres in implementing SOP.
